Berenice Marlohe Copy-Cat

For the past week I have been trying out an interesting style of makeup. It's similar to my usual overdone-aunty style, just more exaggerated.

The basic pattern I follow is here, on this extraordinary blog, which is so interesting! She has an artist's eye for detail and luckily the writer's ability to explain it.
For instance, she explains contouring methods in depth. Honestly I didn't realize how versatile the taupe colour can be, till I came across her blog.

Today, inspired by this same actress (Berenice Marlohe from the James Bond film Skyfall)--she has a penchant for unique, beautiful eye makeup!--I decided to copy this 'statement liner' design.

Please excuse the terrible quality of these screenshots, this laptop is a doddering ole thing.

Gah, I hate my hyperpigmentation! Nothing covers it!
For skin, I tried out my sample of YSL Touche Eclat Foundation, which is too light, then Cover FX CC cream to try to darken it...and Lise watier concealer.
And Maybelline Timeless Toffee long-lasting lipstick was blended on as a cream blush. And Rimmel cherry kiss lipliner softened with lip-balm.

Anyway for the eyes this is:
1. Too Faced Natural eyes palette (the topmost trio of colours) --> these are great but require a primer, which I left out today. --> used the same shades on the brows too.
2. Marcelle Kajal/Kohl in waterline (it has no irritating ingredients)
3. Guerlain liquid liner (very fine and precise and easy to clean up)
4. Fyrinnae Witchy Woodland Creatures (a sparkling cool-brown/taupe) along the bottom lashes after the Too Faced dark brown
5. Wet n Wild Panther (basic black) to try and darken it to the level she had...to no avail...

It was a different kind of makeup, kind of villainous and intense. It would make a good base for heavy or unique (like Shu-style) false lashes, I think. It'd JUST balance them out enough that they wouldn't be TOO comical.

The earrings I wore...it's a fabulous design

Yay! Back to makkup shakkup gupshup... tomorrow I'll write about some awesome books I've been reading and we shall dance, we shall dance, we shall dance. We meaning me and my band of imaginary readers...Father Dougal, Petunia Merryweather, Pompeii Reigns Supreme, and Aunt Jemima.

Spit Truth to Power

I am so proud of this young Jewish man and no matter what happened to him (it is a horrific video, it had me in tears, so don't watch if you think you can't handle it), I wish him the best of everything. His follow-up video here, explaining further the context and his intentions.

Lion-heart, beautiful soul. He has more heroism, wisdom, and strength, in his pinky, than the men who tried to drown out it out, can ever understand. Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes.

I hope their blind hearts are awakened one day. They are only betraying themselves, oppressing their natural goodness within, by suppressing the truth and supporting a murderous regime.

I hope all of us are roused out of passivity and cowardice and open our hearts to truth, and speak it.

Just speak it. Be it Tibet, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Burma, Chechnya, whatever part of the world is currently in flames, really. Or animal abuse, child abuse, drug abuse, bullying, or your neighbour's got crazy debt and needs help, or...or... there's a baby buffalo that needs sticky tape to repair its hot air balloon (Dora epi)...whatever--pick a cause.
Pick a cause, learn about it, and try to do it justice with your hands, voice, and heart. Lend your voice to those who have none.

That's what I learnt from watching this video.

This is a true noble person, this is true goodness and true strength. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said:

An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all of humanity.

Thank you for reminding me, once more.

A building right next to al-Wafaa hospital in Palestine, is in flames as I type this. It got bombed.

Israel called up the hospital a few hours ago, and warned them all to evacuate as it is the target.

I have some images from inside this hospital, and like I mentioned before, the current injured-from-this-month's-attacks Palestinians rank in 1000+ range --actually, now they are 1,500+. Besides this, there are those who have died: 200 exactly.

So here is the hospital, a few pics, and these people are all expected to evacuate. The building next to them got attacked, and is on fire.

Very noble of Israeli military to ring em up and tell them all to evacuate: where to? Hm?

Volunteers are within, as 'shields,' because it might prevent Israel from bombing hospitals if non-Palestinians are killed (they won't be able to deny it). This is how they have been trying to keep them safe. (see video below)

"If you are convinced what you're doing is correct, your heart is at ease and you can continue in the struggle."
- Wei Jingsheng

Israel also has student unions in their 'war-room' spreading their propaganda all over social media. Link.

They are armed with lies, false numbers, logical fallacies, the victim card (as they sit in their AC'd room with refreshments.---> watch the accompanying video), copy-pasting generic criticism of Hamas, writing pointless arguments and comments to make those who like to skim without watching/reading/little knowledge get that little bit more brainwashed.

And like I mentioned many posts ago, they have employed their lovely faked images to make it seem like Palestinians are faking these images...when it is Israel who manufactures this faked propaganda and 'outs' it like they are amidst a big ole conspiracy.

Lastly, I want to mention that I am sick, along with Beautiful Dreamer (asleep at last), and I feel like the least bit I can contribute is posting, on behalf of this cause, hence the flurry of blog posts. Can't wait to attend a rally this weekend, then I'll feel a bit less frustrated and hopeless.

In honour of Princess Diana

Do you remember when Princess Diana died?

My mother made us all (boys included) gather round the TV set and watch everything that aired about her--the various news updates, the documentary on her life, and the funeral. Praised her to the skies. etc. Made quite an impression on me.

There's a lot of stuff to admire about the Princess.

Humanitarian work, lovely personality, the way she impacted the world and spoke out about stuff that was supposed to be hush-hush. I love how she endured a hell of a lot in her private and public life, but made the best of it. Always a cheerful smile.

I've been inspired by her of late. There are some many well done documentaries & clips of her on youtube which I've been watching in my free time. I would love to emulate her on many levels.

Today I decided to do a Princess Diana inspired makeup.

Soft champagne gold and peachy tan on eyes, with blue eyeliner, blue mascara.
Orange-y frosty lipstick.
Tinted moisturizer/bronzer.

By the way: liquid bronzer? Apply with a contour brush instead of with fingers.
Makes a WORLD of difference!

Things of note:
That she didn't go overboard with the base.

That she stuck with blue eyeliner/mascara her whole life, and with good reason. It makes you seem ALERT & well-rested. And blue mascara is terrific for bringing out the *Whites* of ones eyes, cancelling out any bloodshot-ness...
She did go more browns/golds as she got older, but the blue made an appearance every once in a while.

On a regular basis, her lipstick seemed a very sheer glimmery barely-there colour, something like Estee Lauder Tiramisu.

This look is perfect for winter, as it makes you look vibrant and fresher than usual!!

Being a terrible blogger--these are all phone pics, not the best quality. It looks much prettier in real life, esp the bronzer. I just love that stuff.

Items used
Omorovicza SPF Complexion Enhancer & Sunkiss bronzer
Diorskin Nude Sculpting Powder
Lise Watier concealer wheel (Portfolio les beiges)
Lise Watier Sublime lipstick in Gala
Annabelle Creme Caramel Trio
Lise Watier waterproof eyeliner in Teal & Cover Girl Liqui'line in Blue Boom
Quo mascara in blue

I know certain aspects of my face are a disgrace, but it's fun to pretend to be a brunette Natalia Vodianova.
If GUERLAIN stand behind her, fuzzy brows and all, surely I, with no contract to speak of, may breathe easy?

Oh by the way, here's a face chart that Princess Diana's first makeup artist created for her when she was younger! Source

Let me end with my favourite picture of her...
