Genius-tique

Being obsessed with the artistic aspect of anything, I can do things, dans un 'jiffy' as vous say, without realizing what I did/why I did it. It's like cooking an excellent supper while taking swigs of champagne, and waking up from a drunken stupor not remembering anything you did. Intuition sans awareness.

I love videos that note all the little practical techniques.
Mathias Alan's videos get down to every precise detail, like exactly what brushes are best for merging crease colours with liner, what camouflage palette to use, what cream colour bases layer best, etc.
Especially interesting, to me, is how he maximizes a few colours.
One thing you learn from painting, is that using a gajillion paints in an amateurish attempt to achieve a simple effect results in mud, whereas one or two colours will do, if used properly.

That he explains the sequence of things (mascara afore lower liner = using the wet dark smudges from mascara mistakes to thy advantage) makes it useful, too.

I have learned a ton from watching these videos, and they're not dull and drawn-out.
